Today’s diverse societies hold ample opportunities for enriching and thriving interactions, but also the risk for interpersonal and intergroup conflict. This workshop focuses on how to promote a culture of care, diversity, and inclusion. Participants learn how to apply evidence-based techniques from neuroscience, psychology, and contemplative practices (mindfulness meditation) in social interactions. Topics include the cultivation of awareness, mutual respect, and compassion. The workshop also covers how to identify and skillfully address different forms of structural oppression and microaggressions. At the end of the workshop, participants will have an evidence-based set of techniques that can be applied to improve social relations and to advance conflict resolution and forgiveness. Promoting a culture of care, diversity, and inclusion can significantly contribute to thriving social interactions, to improved working atmospheres in companies, and to changes in political and private settings.
